Grajales Expeditions is proud to partner with Terrazas de los Andes, a winery whose history and philosophy are as deeply connected to the Andes as our own. The winery’s story began over 30 years ago with a vision to craft fine mountain wines from Mendoza’s high-altitude vineyards.
The Ascension Journey Terrazas de los Andes embarked on an “ascension journey,” much like a mountaineer, to discover and acquire lands that would deliver the freshness and refinement they sought for their wines. This quest led them to establish a mosaic of high-altitude vineyards, including:
Finca Las Compuertas: A Malbec vineyard in Luján de Cuyo planted in 1929.
Finca Los Castaños: Planted in 2006 at 1,100 meters in Paraje Altamira, Uco Valley.
Finca Licán: Planted in 2007 at 1,200 meters in Los Chacayes, Uco Valley.
Finca El Espinillo: Planted in 2008 at 1,650 meters in Gualtallary, which is the highest productive vineyard in the Uco Valley and the second highest in Mendoza.
The winery discovered that higher altitudes, with their increased sun exposure and cool climates, yield fresher grapes with brighter colors and silkier tannins, which impart elegance and finesse to the wines.
Guardians of Mountain Life Terrazas de los Andes is committed to respecting and preserving the fragile ecosystem of the Andes through their “Guardians of Mountain Life” program. This philosophy is demonstrated through a number of initiatives:
Water Conservation: They pioneered the use of a precise drip irrigation system in 100% of their vineyards, which saves up to 60% of water compared to traditional methods. They also co-founded “Glaciers for Life,” a program to preserve Andean glaciers and water resources.
Regenerative Viticulture: The winery embraces regenerative viticulture, which focuses on soil health, biodiversity, and fair working conditions. Over 500 hectares of their vineyards are managed this way.
Community Engagement: For nearly two decades, they have implemented seven educational programs in nearby mountain schools, reaching over 4,000 children.

The Craft of Fine Mountain Wines The winery’s dedication to precision viticulture and its deep respect for the terroir are evident in its wines. The wines exhibit a brilliant color and an intense nose that evokes a sense of freshness from the high altitude and cool climate. They are full-bodied and elegant on the palate, with silky, balanced tannins and notes of native flora and herbs.
The century-old winery building in Perdriel, originally named “La Perla,” is a cultural heritage site in Mendoza. It has been equipped with modern, sustainable technology while preserving its historical legacy, serving as a symbol of Terrazas de los Andes’ commitment to integrating the past with the future.
A Partnership Built on Shared Heights Our partnership with Terrazas de los Andes is more than a business collaboration; it’s a celebration of shared values. We both understand that the pursuit of excellence—whether summiting a peak or crafting a perfect vintage—requires respect for the Andes’ power, a commitment to precision, and a relentless spirit of discovery. We invite you to raise a glass of Terrazas de los Andes wine and celebrate the magic that resides on the “terraces of the Andes”, a journey we are proud to share
